Well-regarded as an indie rock producer for bands such as Spoon, the Mountain Goats and Death Cab For Cutie (he even has his own San Francisco-based, all-analog recording studio), Vanderslice is also becoming better known as a recording artist, with “Emerald City” qualifying as his sixth solo album. Although there are only a handful of reviews in so far (expect more later in the week), the new album is winning acclaim, with reviewers once again impressed by his detailed, story-driven songwriting, which seems inspired by recent events both personal and political.
